'Portrait in nature, portrait in you', 2025
Ink, gesso, impasto, charcoal, graphite, pastel and organic material on thick edge canvas
121.5 × 152.4cm
I am thrilled to share my latest artwork, which exudes a presence like no other. This artwork has been described as a ‘monumental landscape’. The subject matter emerges from a blissful combination of wet and dry materials. I worked through this painting, tirelessly, knowing for a long stint of the process that it simply ‘wasn’t working’. Until, it did. As an artist, you don’t know until the painting is finished until it looks back at you’ (as my art teacher Joe Frost once said). This artwork doesn’t just look back at you’; it stares right through you - reaching out - inviting you to a place of solitude and truth.
Signed at bottom right corner.
Framing available.
